Im sorry if I may have post this in the wrong place.
Ok this is kinda of tricky and kinda new with this stuff.

Ok This is for a project and need help. I was asked if I could make some kind of alert to pop up 3 different statuses, a green light for - server good, a yellow light for - the server is experienceing technical diffulties and not may be running properly and a red light for - server is down.

So how would I go about doing that in an employees Intranet page so they can see if there is problems with the server if they are trying to log in and work.

Does anyone have any idea and what i need to look into ...

I know they work with Visual Studio 2010 and probaly work with IIS - so just in case any help if they work with Apache.

Thanks alot any help and pointing in the right direction would really be appriciated.
