[serious]Need a count-down timer for a science project[/serious]

I'm helping my son with a science project and we were hoping to get our hands on some kind of hobbyist LCD display/timer - something that might count down from 2:00 minutes or count up to 2:00 minutes...

Anyone got any ideas were something like this might be purchased? A trip to the local Radio Shack came up empty - they really don't have the same kind of electronic supplies they did back when I was a kid.
