Installing fonts

Hi,

I seem to remember that just putting a font file into the Windows Fonts folder isn't enough, I think I have to 'tell' Windows that it's there?

I have a program which works fine until such time that it calls for a particular font, at which time it crashes, the odd thing is though, if I run the same program again straight away, having changed nothing, it usually works properly. This almost never happens in my PC but quite frequently in my wife's laptop, now this particular font file has been in my PC for ages, but only fairly recently in the laptop.

I'm pretty sure my problem has something to do with informing Windows that the file is there but can't remember what it is I have to do.
If it's not that I'm going to have to overhaul my program again, to try to see if I'm calling the fonts incorrectly or something.

Poppa.
