Horiz scroll-bar seemingly disabled

Guys

Here is a screen shot of a thread in VB 6 and Earlier Forum,

As you can see, there is a horiz scroll bar, but no slider
Long lines of code get wrapped into col 1 of the next line, making it look "ugly"

I'm using IE 8.
This did not happen in the previous version of VBForums.

Is there a way to enable a horiz slider and eliminate the word-wrapping?
